Short History of Karma Lekshey Ling
Karma Lekshey Ling was established in 1990 at the request of His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche. It's purpose is to provide the sons of Himalayan Buddhist families with an opportunity for education combined with monastic training, including the study of philosophy, logic and religious history.
The project to educate these children began with only thirty students. Since 1990, the number of students has increased annually.
As the number of students has grown, additional buildings have been added, but still not enough. We are lacking classrooms, bedrooms and common rooms for the students as well as appropriate kitchen facilities.
The Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies provides students the opportunity to study classic Buddhist texts about philosophy and logic. Further studies in computer skills and English are also offered.
The aim of the curriculum and discipline at Karma Lekshey Ling is to train buddhist monks in ways that qualify them to teach the Buddhadharma. They will then eventually be able to guide their own students and disciples.
Students at Karma Lekshey Ling are educated for free. The Institute is responsible for their education, food, clothing, medical care and welfare in general.
Obviously, Karma Lekshey Ling has considerable financial obligations. Donations from benefactors around the world have contributed to the growth, development and improvement of the standard of education, welfare and housing of our students. As Karma Lekshey.
Please share in the benefits of our cause by sponsoring the training, education and welfare of our disadvantaged students. |
